Necklace Medallion
Medallions evolved from talisman jewelry worn to ward off evil spirits. Purpose: Love, honor, a pledge of allegiance, a symbol of mourning, a commitment, or a window on the past. Medallions were used to carry: powders, miniature portraits, ashes, herbal remedies, poison, and fabrics impregnated with perfumes.
